I’m Oleh. I love making things.
Being Ukrainian, freedom is my number one value. I had my ups and downs, and stability has never been a guarantee for me. But I’m so grateful for the ability to pursue my passions and do the things I love. And the best part? I’ve been my own boss for the past 18 years.
Talking about myself always makes me wonder about life and stuff. Like, what could I have done better? Why am I doing what I’m doing? But hey, I started as a translator and ended up building my own translation agency. It’s been a huge part of my life, but I’m ready to write some new chapters and see where things go.
I decided to stop doubting myself and take a shot at coding when I turned 40. I’ve always loved the idea of creating apps ever since I laid my eyes on the iPhone and its user interface, as well as the app store icons. And now, I’m excited to dive deeper and create even more cool stuff.
I don’t really go looking for ideas for my apps. They just come to me naturally when I notice a gap or something missing in the tools I use for my life and business. I only work on things that I truly believe in. Right now, I’ve got a few software projects that help us with our translation business, an iOS app for tracking multi-asset savings, and I’m currently working on some apps to help manage emotions, as well as some ideas for the education industry.
I’ve got a pretty strong opinion about the education system, and to put it bluntly, I think it’s fucked up. That’s why my wife and I decided to homeschool our kids. And guess what? We’re also working on an app for the homeschooling community in Poland.
One of my favorite topics to talk about is foreign language learning. I honestly believe that anyone can learn a new language and speak it like a native without having to pay for expensive tutors, app subscriptions, or other commercialized forms of learning. I’m planning on writing more about this on my blog, so make sure to stay tuned!
